Why We Loved AVA Resort Cancun
Thereโs so much happening at AVA Resort Cancun that it’s hard to fit it all into one trip. Itโs a true all-inclusive resort, which means every meal, every drink, and endless activities are part of the package. Whether your idea of vacation is a hammock nap or paddleboarding before lunch, this resort has it all.
Picture oceanfront infinity pools, endless activities, and restaurants that range from authentic Mexican eats to international favorites. With more than a dozen dining spots, plus lounges, cafรฉs, and bars scattered throughout the property, youโre never far from something good to eat or drink.
Accommodations
When itโs time to call it day, the rooms at AVA Resort Cancun are a highlight all on their own. Every suite is designed to have sweeping ocean views no matter where you stay. Each has a private terrace, most with a two-person spa tub thatโs perfect for unwinding after a day in the sun.
Youโll find plenty of space inside with plush beds, sleek modern bathrooms with rain showers, and little luxuries like a Nespresso machine, stocked minibar, and cozy robes.
There are king and queen accommodation options. The Oceanfront King or Queen guest rooms come with an ocean view, comfortable sleeping space with either a king bed or two queen beds plus a sofa bed.
For families or larger groups, there are spacious suites like the Oceanfront Central Suite (one king and two queen beds, plus sofa bed) and the F&F Sundeck Suite (king bed, sofa bed, daybed), ensuring everyone sleeps comfortably.
Larger suites even have separate living areas or kitchenettes, making them ideal for families or longer stays. Between the views of the ocean, the spa tub, and all the extras, Iโll admit, there were mornings I had a hard time leaving my room.
Things To Do at AVA Resort
Hang Out at the Pool
Thereโs no question that the pools are a highlight of the resort, from infinity edges overlooking the beach to swim-up bars that keep the drinks coming. I loved that there was something for everyone, from the swim-up bar to the splash area, so the whole family had a place to enjoy the water.
Eat Tacos at the Taco Stand
Feeling a little hungry between meals? The taco stand serves up fresh tortillas with all sorts of flavorful fillings. I couldnโt resist stopping more than once because it was just too good to pass by.
Watch the Sunrise from your Balcony
Every room has an ocean view, so set your alarm and watch the sun come up. You can go back to sleep. No judging here.
Go Paddleboarding
With calm Caribbean waters right outside the resort, paddleboarding is a perfect way to spend an hour. Or, head over to AVA Lagoon, the sparkling saltwater lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoonsยฎ. Itโs eco-friendly, using less water and fewer chemicals, and still gives you those unforgettable Caribbean vibes.
Cool Off With Some Ice Cream
When the sun is blazing, Konos Ice Creams is the place to cool off with house-made flavors. The colorful lineup changes daily, and I found myself making it a sweet little routine during our stay.
Enjoy a Local Beer at CJ Cantina
CJ Cantina is the perfect place to grab a cold local beer. Order a few snacks, enjoy the music, and soak up the laid-back vibe.
Visit the Galo Art Gallery
Galo Escultor is a well-known artist from Mexico City, and this gallery is a showplace located right within the AVA Resort.
Galo begins the process of creation in city streets and flea markets, collecting discarded objects that he refers to as pieces of history, which become part of his art. Visit his gallery to see the incredible pieces he’s created and perhaps even take one home with you.
Try More Than a Dozen Restaurants
AVA has plenty of dining spots beyond the taco stand and ice cream shop. Youโll find Italian dishes at Veranda, sizzling steaks at Black Iron and fresh Mediterranean plates at Livo, just to name a few.
I had fun mixing it up and trying different global cuisines each night. And don’t forget dessert. You are on vacation, after all.
Catch a Live Show
Evenings come alive at the resort with entertainment, from music and dance to themed performances. The resort always has something happening once the sun goes down.
Let Kids Visit their own Club and Teen Lounge
Families love the younger kids and teen clubs, where younger guests get to dive into games, art, and supervised fun. AVA Kids and Teens run 8 am to 10 pm with supervised activities, video games, and Sunnyโs Water Park and AVA Bay water play. It gives parents a chance to sneak off for some quiet time while the kids have fun of their own.
Have Breakfast in Bed
Spoil yourself by staying in for breakfast. Have breakfast in bed like I did, or take it out on the balcony and dine with a view!
Fitness Center
Work off a few tacos at FIIT, the resortโs gym and class space. Itโs stocked with modern equipment, so you wonโt miss your usual routine. In fact, I’d venture to say this is one of the nicest gyms I’ve ever seen. Go upstairs and you’ll find all kinds of fitness classrooms, like spinning and yoga.
Relax at the Spa
Right across the way from the Fitness Center, you’ll find the world-class spa. When you need a break from the sun, the spa is ready with massages, facials, and a full hydrotherapy circuit. I found that the calming atmosphere made it easy to unwind and recharge.
Try Something New Indoors
Bowling, arcade games, and laser tag give you plenty of options when you want a change of pace from the beach. Thereโs even an escape room experience onsite through Escapology, available for an extra fee.
The point is, AVA has just about everything you could want in a vacation, and you could do it all, or just do nothing but relax by the pool with a good book. It’s your vacation, but you have choices. So many choices.
Let me know if you have questions. I’m always happy to help!
