This decadent concoction brings together the rich flavors of salted caramel, the warmth of whiskey, and the gooey goodness of a toasted marshmallow.

This just might be your new favorite cocktail! Let the good times roll!

    Why We Love this Cocktail

First, the drink's base is created with a combination of premium Salted Caramel Whiskey from Bird Dog Whiskey. It's love at first sip!

Bird Dog Whiskey is aged in oak barrels giving it a distinctive flavor and smooth finish. And when it comes to flavored whiskeys, you won't find a better variety!

    What Goes Into This Recipe

Ingredients of a salted caramel cocktail.

We created this delicious cocktail with a simple blend of milk, melted marshmallows, caramel syrup, and delicious Bird Dog Salted Caramel Flavored Whiskey.

But the real showstopper comes with the garnish: a perfectly toasted jumbo marshmallow. The marshmallow is lightly torched and placed on top of the drink, giving it a beautiful golden-brown hue and a deliciously gooey texture.

As you sip on the cocktail, some of the toasted marshmallow melts even more creaminess to the drink, perfectly complementing the salted caramel flavor.

This delicious drink is perfect for a cozy night in, or as a dessert drink to cap off a delicious meal.

Its unique combination of flavors and textures makes it a standout among other cocktails, and its beautiful presentation is sure to impress any guest.

Give it a try and indulge in a little bit of sweetness with Bird Dog Salted Caramel Flavored Whiskey.

How to Make a Salted Caramel Whiskey Cocktail

Melt chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments until smooth. Dip a martini glass in chocolate and let dry. Set aside.

Martini glass upside down on plate of melted chocolate.

Cut the marshmallow in half. Set aside.

Add half of the marshmallow to a sauce pan along with milk and caramel over medium heat, stirring often. If the mixture starts to boil, turn the heat down to medium low.

Melted marshmallow in pan with wooden spoon.

Once the marshmallow has melted, remove it from the heat and let cool for a few minutes.

Add Bird Dog Salted Caramel flavored Whiskey to the pan and stir.

Pouring whiskey into pan of cocktail mixture.

Pour mixture over ice in a cocktail shaker or your favorite mixing glass to chill slightly. Don't leave it too long or it will get watered down.

Strain the cocktail into the chocolate rimmed martini glass.

Toast the other half of the marshmallow with a torch or over a fire pit.

We love sipping this delicious after dinner cocktail by the fire, but it's perfect anytime!

    Variations

There are various ways you could change up this dessert cocktail.

Slip in a piece of graham cracker to take it up a notch and give this tasty treat that s'mores flavor.

Though salted caramel is popular in the winter months, you could add ice cubes and make this a frozen drink to cool you off on a hot summer day!

Add a maraschino cherry for color and another pop of sweetness, or sprinkle with sea salt flakes to bring out more of the salted caramel flavor.

You can use a variety of syrups like chocolate or hazelnut. You can also use caramel sauce instead of caramel syrup.

Chocolate fans could add chocolate to the milk and make a hot chocolate salted caramel cocktail. That sounds like a perfect drink by the fire, too!

Not a marshmallow fan? Top the drink with whipped cream! Just be sure it's cooled off enough that it won't melt instantly. Cinnamon sticks would be a nice garnish.

Coffee fans could add a little coffee liqueur to this drink.

Add Bird Dog Apple for a Caramel Apple flavored variation. Or mix the Bird Dog Apple Flavored Whiskey with hot apple cider for a really unique cocktail!

Not a whiskey lover? You could make this with vodka, but we'd suggest you try the Bird Dog Salted Caramel flavored whiskey first!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use marshmallow fluff instead of marshmallows?

You could, but it still needs to be melted together with the other ingredients.

    Can I use regular whiskey?

You could, but this cocktail is so delicious with Bird Dog Salted Caramel Whiskey, why would you?

Could I serve this over ice?

Yes! It would be delicious over ice. I'd suggest you put it in the fridge for 30 minutes or so to get it good and cold so this flavorful cocktail doesn't get watered down right away.

    Top Tips

You can find Bird Dog Whiskey in most liquor stores. Total Wine usually has a lot of different flavors, as well.

We used Jumbo marshmallows and cut them in half, but you could use regular-sized if you can't find the jumbo.

You can certainly skip the chocolate rim if you're not a fan.

Let us know how you like this cocktail! If you love it, please give it a 5-Star rating! Thank you!
