Rise and Shine Fruit and Vegetable Juice Recipe

When sailing with Oceania Cruises, we always look forward to the Rise and Shine fruit and vegetable juice served at Aquamar Kitchen. Their flavorful blend of juices is the perfect way to start the day.

Our Favorite Juice

Though Aquamar Kitchen does serve a variety of cold-pressed juices and smoothies, the Rise and Shine blend is our favorite. Each of these ingredients complements the others beautifully.

Carrots and beets share natural compounds that pair well with acidic flavors, which is why the orange juice rounds out this blend so well. Ginger and turmeric are both rhizomes, so they offer similar warming notes—but turmeric leans more earthy while ginger stays sharp and peppery. Cayenne ties them together by adding a gentle heat that lifts the overall earthy flavor.

Besides loving the flavor combination of this drink, enjoying a glass of Rise & Shine juice is an easy way to get the health benefits of whole fruits and vegetables. A glass of pure juice provides vitamin C as well as healthy fiber, and is so much better for you than sugar-sweetened juices.

This juice blend is perfect in the morning, but it’s also a great mid-afternoon pick-me-up because the natural sugars from the fruit and vegetables give you a boost of quick energy without the crash you might get from coffee. A lot of people also enjoy it post-workout thanks to its hydrating base and naturally occurring electrolytes.

When you sail with Oceania Cruises, you can pair a glass of juice with one of Aquamar Kitchen’s flavorful Avocado Toasts or omelets for the perfect breakfast. And for lunch, you have to try one of their bowls, like Tuna Poke (my favorite) or Buddha.

For another of our favorite juices, try this anti-inflammatory juice recipe. Celery juice is great for joint pain.

Recipe Ingredients

You can pick up these fresh fruits, vegetables, and spices for this juice at just about any grocery store.

  • Green apples
  • Oranges
  • Carrots
  • Beets
  • Fresh ginger
  • Fresh turmeric
  • Ground cayenne pepper

How to Make Rise & Shine Juice

Wash all fruits and vegetables. You can peel the beets and carrots if preferred. I just gave them all a good scrub. Peel the oranges.

Cut the veggies small enough to put through the juicer. You can juice them in any order.

We started with the beets, followed by the pieces of apple.

Next, add the piece of ginger and turmeric. You won’t get much juice from them, but the flavor addition is wonderful. Juice the orange by hand and set aside.

Combine all juices and pour into glasses. Sprinkle with a pinch of cayenne pepper and stir. This recipe makes 2 12-ounce servings of juice.

Tips & Variations

  • Feel free to use store-bought fresh orange juice or even a combination of fresh and frozen. Just make sure the juice doesn’t have added sugar.
  • When it comes to adding cayenne pepper, start with a small pinch. You can always add more, but you can’t take it away.
  • Switch the flavors up with different citrus fruits like tangerine or grapefruit juice.
  • Try adding pomegranate juice.
  • If you like a sweeter flavor, add pear or blueberries.
  • Leafy greens like spinach or kale are great additions and add even more of a nutritional boost.

Storing Fresh Juice

Fresh made juice doesn’t have the same shelf life as canned or bottled juice. It really should be enjoyed the same day for the best quality.
