- 1½ ounces tequila
- 1½ ounces Pinot Noir
- ½ ounce lime juice freshly squeezed
- ½ ounce agave
- Ice
- 2 ounces Fresca or other grapefruit soda
- Lime or lemon wedge
Add ice and tequila to a cocktail shaker.
Add your favorite pinot noir.
Pour in lime juice and agave.
Shake quickly to chill, but not too long, as it will become watered down.
Strain your World Record Cocktail over fresh ice in a cocktail glass, leaving room for soda.
Top off the drink with cold grapefruit soda.
Add lime or lemon wedge.
You can adjust the sweetness of this cocktail by adding more or less agave.
For a more robust citrus flavor, you can add more freshly squeezed lime juice. You can also add a splash of cranberry juice added flavor.
Experiment with different types of tequila or wine to customize the taste of your cocktail.
If you don't have grapefruit soda, feel free to improvise. You could use ginger ale mixed with a splash of grapefruit juice or simply use ginger ale. Grapefruit bitters is also an option to add a little of the grapefruit flavor without adding juice. Make your own homemade grapefruit soda, and you may never buy it again.
Grapefruit juice does interfere with the metabolization of some medications, so keep that in mind if you are on medications and check to be sure it's okay to drink. If you need to substitute, try orange juice with ginger ale or a lemon-flavored soda.
You could rim the glasses with salt or sugar before pouring the cocktail to enhance the presentation.
