Easy Cheddar No-Knead Bread

This easy cheddar no knead bread is so delicious. You'll find so many meals that improve with this bread!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, add flour, salt and yeast. Combine well with a whisk.
  • Add water, stirring until a sticky dough forms. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and stir until it's thoroughly mixed into the dough.
  • Cover the dough with a clean dishtowel and allow it to rest overnight or for about 12-18 hours.
  • Place an empty Dutch oven pan in the oven and preheat the oven to 450º F.
  • On a smooth, lightly floured surface, roll the dough until it forms a ball.
  • Once the oven has reached 450 degrees, carefully remove the Dutch oven and place the bread dough into it, covering it with a lid.
  • Place the Dutch oven in the oven and bake the bread for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the lid from the Dutch oven and let the bread bake for an additional 15-20 minutes to get that golden brown crust.

Notes

Use a preheated Dutch oven as it mimics the conditions of a commercial oven. 
If your dough feels overly sticky after mixing, try adding a sprinkle of flour and gently folding it into the dough until it becomes more manageable. If it feels too dry, add just a teaspoon of water at a time until it's the right consistency.
Allowing the dough to rest for the recommended time enhances the flavor and fluffy inside texture of the bread.
Since the dough will sticky, you may want to lightly flour your hands when shaping the dough to prevent it from sticking to your fingers.
