Poinsettia Champagne Cocktail Recipe

The Poinsettia Champagne Cocktail is a favorite for winter holiday parties. Though we love the flavors all year long, those pretty fresh cranberries are only available beginning in November.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1 ½ oz cranberry juice
  • Ice cubes
  • 4 oz Champagne or sparkling wine

Garnishes

  • Fresh cranberries Optional
  • Fresh Rosemary Optional
  • Red edible glitter Optional
  • lime slice Optional

Instructions

  • Run a lime around the rim of your glass. Dip glass in red edible glitter.
  • Carefully add 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) Cointreau. Pour straight into the center of the glass so not to get the glittery rim wet.
  • Add 1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) cranberry juice, carefully.
  • Add ice cubes to the rim and carefully fill with Champagne or sparkling wine.
  • Add a sprig of rosemary, slice of lime, and several fresh cranberries.

Notes

Start with well chilled ingredients. Because this is not a shaken cocktail, make sure to set your bottle of sparkling wine or prosecco and cranberry juice in the fridge the day before. You can also freeze the cranberries to help keep the cocktail cold.
Instead of ice cubes, you can use extra cranberry juice. Just pour the cranberry juice into your ice cube trays and freeze it into cubes. The fruit juice keeps the drink from becoming watered down.
Pour slowly when you fill the glass with champagne to prevent it from fizzing over the sides.
