Ingredients

  • 2 ounces rum
  • Juice of ½ a lime
  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • 4 ounces mango nectar
  • Sparkling water or club soda to top
  • Fresh lime or mint for garnish
  • ½ cup ice

Instructions

  • Add the fresh lime juice, and mint to a cocktail shaker.
  • Add sugar. Muddle the ingredients to release the mint oils and to dissolve the sugar.
  • Add ice cubes and rum.
  • Add mango nectar to the muddled mint mixture. Shake to combine and chill.
  • Pour that mixture into your favorite cocktail glass.
  • Top with soda water and garnish with sprig of mint and a wheel or wedge of lime.

Notes

* Always start with cold ingredients. Chill all the cocktail ingredients in the refrigerator prior to making the mojitos. It helps keep the drinks cooler for longer.
* Remember to not muddle the mint sprigs too far in advance because the longer they sit, the stronger they get, which can make them overpower the other flavors.
