For those who don't love tequila, a vodka margarita is delicious! Vodka has very little flavor and makes a wonderful replacement for this popular cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec (Cointreau or Grand Marnier work well, too.)
  • ½ ounce lemon juice fresh
  • ½ ounce lime juice fresh
  • ¾ ounce agave Or to taste. If you like more tart, use less.
  • coarse salt for rim
  • lime garnish for rim

Instructions

  • Rub lime around rim of glass. Dip glass in salt until covered. Set aside.
  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add vodka.
  • Add Triple Sec.
  • Add juices.
  • Add agave.
  • Shake well.
  • Strain into a cocktail glass.
  • Garnish with lime wedge or wheel.

Notes

To make this spicy, use a Pepper vodka or add a couple of dashes of black pepper.
Try adding an ounce of sparkling water after you pour it into the cocktail glass to give it a hint of effervescence.
If you’re looking for a drink that is a little lighter on the alcohol, replace the Triple Sec with fresh orange juice.
To make this frozen, simply add ingredients to a blender with a little extra ice and blend until slushy!
Use a coarse salt for the rim.
