Fans of fresh cranberries will want to make these cranberry orange scones, too. So good! (tip: you can use dried cranberries for this one!)

We had friends from Maryland visit us a couple of years ago and they brought all the ingredients to make this yummy fresh cranberry salsa recipe while they were staying with us.

It was so much fun to watch them work together chopping the cranberries and cilantro. They took over our kitchen and we had a blast drinking wine while they worked their magic.

The result was better than I could have imagined. I mean, I love salsa, but this, I could eat this on everything!

I think it’s all the fresh ingredients that makes it so flavorful. This has really become a family favorite.

I made their recipe for cranberry salsa for a party we had last month, and several people asked me for the recipe. It’s such an easy appetizer to take to holiday parties. I hope you enjoy it! I’ve got plenty of party appetizers, including these cream cheese appetizers.

What You Need

To make this homemade cranberry salsa, you will need frozen cranberries, honey, sugar, cilantro, lime zest and lime juice, and a Jalapeño pepper.

Honey, cranberries, cilantro, lines, jalapeño, and sugar to make salsa.

Cranberry season is short, therefore they are not easy to get other than around the holiday season. Buy several bags when they show up at the grocery store and put them in the freezer so you have them when you want to make salsa.

Cranberries are a good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and other antioxidants, too, so enjoy them while you can.

How to Make It

Chop the cranberries medium fine.

Fresh cranberries chopped.

As long as you do a really quick chop, you could place cranberries in the bowl of a food processor. I think everything in this recipe is better chopped by hand.

Chop the cilantro.

Zest the lime, and then juice it. Whenever you’re zesting citrus, you want the zest to be finely grated as it releases more flavor.

Finely chop the Jalapeño. I only used one, but if you like spicy salsa, feel free to use more Jalapeño peppers.

Add the sugar and honey.

Mix all ingredients well.

It’s best to let the salsa set overnight in a refrigerator to really give the flavors a chance to meld together.

Serve with tortilla chips. Your whole family will be raving about this cranberry salsa!

Different colored chips would make a beautiful presentation.

The fresh flavors of the cranberries and other ingredients are just out of this world. You may never buy salsa again!

Take this to your next holiday party and let me know what your friends think! Please come back and share in the comments below.

What else could I serve with Cranberry Salsa?

You could also pour this fresh salsa over a brick of cream cheese and serve it with your favorite crackers. Brie cheese would be delicious, too.

Could I use this salsa as a topping for meat or fish?

Yes! This salsa is also wonderful over pork, lamb, or broiled or blackened fish. It’s also wonderful over fish tacos!

How long does this salsa keep?

This salsa stays fresh in an airtight container for 4 to 5 days. I have not tried to freeze it.
