You know how you will hear a song on the radio and just know it was something special? Hearing Jason Castro‘s Only A Mountain on my local radio station, the Joy FM, I new it would be a hit. Check it out below:
It’s pretty clear what Castro is singing about in Only A Mountain: “I know it looks big, and I know it feels small, just a little bit of faith can change it all.” We all need that little bit of faith he sings about. Sometimes life can be overwhelming, and there is nowhere else to go but to Him. In Castro‘s words, music is a way for us to praise God.. He says, “I think it’s something God created for our souls to be able to rejoice in.” I agree. There is nothing like worship to bring us in tune to God. He loves our praise, and you can’t help but sing along when you hear Only A Mountain.
Castro‘s 2008 appearance on American Idol got the attention of fans. His self-titled album, released in 2010, made it to the Billboard 200 coming in at number 18. One song on that album, Let’s Just Fall in Love Again, was an international hit, climbing to number 1 in Norway, the Philippines, and Singapore. Only A Mountain was released in January 2013. With 11 original tracks either written by or co-written by Castro, the songs are all uniquely him. You won’t hear him on the radio and not know who it is. With titles like Life is Beautiful, Something New, and I Believe, the album is from Castro‘s heart. “What good can I do today?” is his way of seeing the world. We can only hope it catches.
