Our family visited the Disney World parks last weekend and saw the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival which was presented by HGTV. If you have never seen this and are able to go to Epcot during this time, it is really an amazing event. I can’t imagine the time it takes to create the gorgeous topiaries that seem to meet you around every corner.
This is the 20th year of this Epcot Garden Festival, and it is only going on until May 19, 2013. You can download a Festival Guide at the Walt Disney World website for more information. To give a an idea of what you will experience:
- Topiaries of your favorite Disney characters, including new additions like Mike & Sully of Disney/Pixar’s “Monsters Inc.”
- Wonderful gourmet foods throughout the World Showcase
- Children’s play area inspired by the new Disney movie, “Oz the Great & Powerful”
- Gardens are illuminated at night
Be sure to pick up your Garden Passport, HGTV’s complimentary guide to all kinds of fun things for families to do together. There is really so much to see and do, and this guide will help keep you on track.
Goofy was celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Festival!
Can you believe the detail in these magnificent characters?
Monsters Inc. represented well!
Of course, we also took time to visit with our favorite Disney characters.
And I couldn’t believe the time Belle spent with my girls. My daughter asked Belle if she had any good book recommendations, and Belle told her to read Pride & Prejudice. She also told my older daughter that she had a ball gown the same color as the dress she was wearing.
My girls also overheard a conversation Belle had with a little girl, telling her that her friend Rapunzel lived in a tower and didn’t have many books to read. Belle said she lent Rapunzel books, but when she would get them back they always had doodles in them, so Belle got Rapunzel a sketchbook for her doodling. How sweet is that?
What’s a visit to a Disney World park without seeing Pooh & Tigger?
It was getting dark but we strolled through the Oz the Great & Powerful garden area.
With all that we saw, I think these were my favorite moments of the entire day.
