Over the past year or so I’ve had issues getting to sleep. I know there are many contributing factors. I’m the wife of a great guy who travels…a lot. That means the stress of raising two teenagers is left to me much of the time. As neither of my kids are driving on their own yet, that means I’m doing the transporting to school activities, opera for my youngest, and evening college classes for both. In addition, I have a full time business with my site, and I also do social media for others. Unfortunately, my house doesn’t clean itself, and dinner doesn’t magically appear on the table. It’s no wonder moms are tired, right?
What do you do when you’re tired and still have a lot to do? I grab a coffee or an energy drink. The problem is that I don’t realize what time it is when I down that caffeinated goodness. Often I realize later that a double expresso was not such a great idea at 5:30 pm.
There are things we can limit to help the process of getting a good night’s sleep. No caffeine after a certain time. Turn off the computer at a reasonable time. Don’t watch TV too late, especially if it’s action-packed. But these are often the exact things we are doing and we wonder why we’re still awake at 2 am!
Let’s concentrate on things that we should be doing. We should be relaxing before bed. A diffuser with lavender creates a calming effect. My husband and I also enjoy music that’s calming. And most importantly, we need a comfortable bed. Restonic has put together a list of rules to remind us to take time for ourselves each day.
R – Rejuvenate on a Restonic mattress for the rest of your life.
E – Embrace your need for sleep. Getting out of bed is overrated.
S – Supporting your dreams of a healthy life with healthy sleep.
T – Think about your need for sleep. At the end of the day, it’s night.
O – Observe how much sweeter life is with a good night’s sleep.
N – Nourish yourself with a sleep sanctuary. Every. Night.
I – Innovate your life with a good night’s sleep.
C – Celebrate life. It’s good!
I love that Restonic says everything they do supports the dreams of the people who sleep on their mattresses. Restonic is the supporting dreams company.
Next month we’ll be talking about changes we’ve made to our sleep habits so when we #GoToBed we’re getting a good night’s sleep. Stay tuned for a giveaway, too! What advice do you have for those of us who have trouble sleeping? Share your tips!
