These Ladybug cupcakes are the perfect dessert for a Ladybug Picnic! This is such an easy recipe, and using Airheads for the decoration made this a DIY project anyone can do! You will never buy cupcakes again! And remember, picnics aren’t just for summer! Throw a blanket on the floor and grab some food for a snack! Kids crafts or printables will add to the fun on a rainy or snowy day.

It seems like yesterday that I was planning a ladybug picnic for my daughters. Now that they are teenagers, one even heading off to a college program in a few months, they aren’t into bug-shaped sandwiches or tea parties anymore. When Airheads reached out to me asking if I had an idea of how I could showcase Airheads candy, I just had to throw one more Ladybug Picnic.

You are invited, hope you can come! Come to a Ladybug Picnic!

That’s where the Ladybug, Ladybug, Ladybug, Ladybug Picnic will be!

Creating a Ladybug Cupcake is so easy when you’ve got delicious moldable candy like Airheads in the Chewier Mini Bars! Since 1986, Airheads candy has been a favorite of kids and adults. My kids have always loved the long lasting fruity flavor! Their favorite is cherry, but they wouldn’t refuse an Airheads of any flavor! With flavors of white mystery, cherry, lemon, blue raspberry, orange, and watermelon, it’s a hard choice for me! What’s your favorite? And did you know Airheads is gluten and peanut free?

Airheads come in a variety of sizes, too, like regular, mini, big bars, and even new bite size pieces. I chose the Mini Bars to craft my ladybugs to top cupcakes for our Ladybug picnic.

I always liked to make our picnics fun by adding some festive tableware like a pretty tablecloth, plates, and napkins that match the theme. For a Ladybug Picnic, you can use red and black plates and napkins. I found red and white polka dot plates and napkins at my local party store. I thought it looked pretty festive!
