Easy Baked Tilapia Recipes

With these easy baked tilapia recipes, making a healthier and delicious dinner is more simple than ever.

We all want to eat healthier food these days, and seafood is one of our favorite foods.

In fact, the Department of Agriculture recommends you eat at least 8 ounces of seafood each week. But what kind of seafood?

Healthiest Seafood

Mild white fish, salmon, shrimp, and sardines are among the healthiest seafoods.

This Lemon and Herb Shrimp is one of the most popular recipes on this site. It’s delicious!

Especially when feeding kids, Tilapia fillets are a great choice as it has a very mild flavor and is a versatile fish.

Tilapia is also wonderful source of protein and high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Even if this is your first time making fish, you’ll create a delicious meal with these recipes.

Tips for Cooking Fish

We’ve got all kinds of easy tilapia recipes here. A simple recipe of a little olive oil, fresh herbs, garlic powder or your favorite spice rub, lemon juice, and salt and black pepper always works well.

Still, there are a few things you should always do when cooking fish in general.

Fish should have a mild scent and not smell overly fishy.

Frozen fish is okay. It’s usually flash frozen, so may be fresher than fresh which has probably been on ice for at least a couple of days.

Make sure fish is dry when adding seasoning. Take the extra time to apply a paper towel to absorb any moisture.

With a fish like tilapia, don’t marinate it for more than 30 minutes, if at all.

Line the baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy clean up.

In fact, wrapping fish in parchment paper is a great technique for fish as it doesn’t dry out while baking. See Rachael Ray’s recipe below!

You’ll find a lot of easy recipes here including some that have sides like quinoa for a complete dinner.

Is Tilapia safe to eat?

Tilapia has gotten a bad rap over the last few years, but as long as it is farmed well, it’s a healthy fish to eat. In fact, according to Cooking Light, Tilapia has almost as much omega 3 fatty acids as cod, and is a good source of potassium. What could I use for these tilapia recipes if I can’t find tilapia?

Catfish is a good substitute as it has the same texture. Branzino, which is showing up in more and more seafood departments, is also a good substitute.
