Have you heard about the Kellogg’s Share Breakfast movement? Kellogg’s, the world’s leading provider of cereal, has partnered with actor Taye Diggs to make a difference in the lives of children in need. Did you know that 1 in 5 kids may go without breakfast each day? 1 in 5! That number is mind boggling to me. What it means is that there are probably children in your neighborhood, on the bus with your child, and sitting in your child’s classroom, hungry.

The Share Breakfast movement is important to Diggs. When his father died, he had to step up to help his mom care for his four younger siblings. His mom was a teacher, so he was raised knowing that a wholesome breakfast was imperative for children to reach their full potential. Check out this short video with Taye Diggs:

In-school breakfast partner, Action For Healthy Kids®, has teamed up with Kellogg’s and Taye Diggs to make it their mission to help kids reach their full potential by sharing with them the importance of a healthy breakfast. As a mom, I know the importance of children eating breakfast. I know my kids are more alert and able to focus when they have eaten a healthy meal in the morning.  I’ve also seen the power of breakfast in my church’s outreach program, where we go into lower-income neighborhoods to try to help by improving the lives of the people living there. We clean up the neighborhood, mend fences, hand out clothing and food, and always serve breakfast. The smiles on the faces of the children we feed are priceless!

This week is National School Breakfast Week, and Kellogg’s Share Breakfast is making it easy for you to make a difference, too. Each time you “share” with others about Share Breakfast, Kellogg’s will share breakfast with a child who might otherwise go without.

It’s so easy! Simply do one (or all!) of the following:

  1. Share the above public service announcement video. It’s easy! Simply watch the video and click  on “share this video” choosing Facebook, Twitter or Google+.
  2. Like or comment on the Share Breakfast Facebook page.
  3. Pin the public service announcement on Pinterest. Simply click on the little arrow to open other options for sharing the video, and click on the “P” for Pinterest sharing! See how easy it is to make a difference? Thank for making a difference and sharing the power of breakfast!

  8. Thank you for posting this! My 2 older kids sometimes do not get breakfast if they wake up late. I put it on them David is 10 he loves food so he rarely misses breakfast, but Nicole 8 prefers to sleep in a bit longer than to have to wake up and eat breakfast before school. I need to teach both of them the importance of breakfast, and to develop good habits!

  9. Oh my gosh! I LOVE Taye Diggs! I am buying anything he is selling. Yum!
